The Temporary Woodland Postal Service and The Temporary Coastland Library took place during two outdoor residencies in rural Nova Scotia during the summer of 2017.
The Temporary Woodland Postal Service created a temporary mailing system that allowed non-verbal and offline communications between its different participants during the residency. The Postal Service provided each participant with a small mailbox made of coroplast to put beside their tent, and distributed daily written words, drawings and objects made by them. Mirroring the underground fungal communication in the forest, the mycorrhizal network, the postperson sorted the mail everyday and decided which information would best benefit a specific individual, and distributed it correspondingly. The post office, where participants deposited their mail, was located in a different place of the forest everyday. This project was an opportunity to re-evaluate our urban communication systems and the way we cooperate with each other, looking to nature for sources of inspiration. Presented as part of the artist residency The City in Reverse: Diagramming Intelligent Systems organised by the Murmur Land Studio from July 2-8 2017, in Sherbrooke, NS.
The Temporary Coastland Library was housed in a geodesic dome structure, a remnant of the island's past inhabitants. The participatory installation acted as a framework from which to examine the plants, trees and animals on the island. The Library recreated, for the duration of the residency, the network system of a library, but instead of books, plants and animals were considered to be the ones transmitting knowledge, and the forest the place in which the learning took place. Items were added and removed everyday, and in a state of constant transformation, as artists were invited to borrow materials and add to the collection, while also finding inspiration for their own work. Produced and performed from July 11th-25th 2017, during the Great Island Summer art residency on Great Island, NS.

The Temporary Woodland Postal Service et The Temporary Coastland Library ont été réalisés lors de deux résidences en plain air qui ont eu lieu à l'été 2017 dans des régions rurales en Nouvelle-Écosse.
The Temporary Woodland Postal Service (Le service postal forestier temporaire) est un service de distribution du courrier entre artistes favorisant les formes de communication non-verbal et hors-ligne instauré durant la résidence. Le service postal a fournit à chaque participant une petite boîte aux lettres en coroplast à installer près de leur tente de camping, et a distribué les lettres quotidiennes, les dessins et les objets que ceux-ci ont proposés. En parallèle avec le système de communication fongique situé sous le sol de la forêt, le réseau micorhizien, la factrice classait le courrier chaque jour et décidait quelle information bénéficierait le mieux chaque individu, et le distribuait en suivant cette logique. Ce projet a été une opportunité de ré-évaluer nos moyens de communication urbains et la façon que nous collaborons entre nous, en considérant la nature comme source d'inspiration. The Temporary Coastland Library a pris place à l'intérieur d'un dôme géodésique, des vestiges des anciens habitants de l'île de Great Island. L'installation participative a agit comme une plateforme permettant d'examiner la végétation et la faune de l'île. La bibliothèque a recréé, pour la durée de la résidence, le système de classification d'une bibliothèque, mais à la place de livres, ce sont les éléments trouvés dans l’environnement qui ont été considérés comme sources de connaissance, et la forêt l’endroit favorisant l’apprentissage. La collection se transformait constamment , et les artistes étaient invités à emprunter des articles et à en ajouter, trouvant peut-être de l'inspiration pour leur propre projet.
